Easy to use.
With a simple fanning motion over the bladder, you get an accurate bladder volume. Uscan’s rugged design even updates and calibrates itself.
The first bladder tool with artificial intelligence.
Uscan combines extreme miniaturization and MEMS sensors with machine learning and computer vision algorithms for industry-leading, first-time accuracy.
Higher patient safety and satisfaction:
Reduces unnecessary catheterizations and associated UTI’s that cost U.S. hospitals millions.
Expandable to other indications
Under development, Uscan’s capabilities
are expanding to Peripheral IV access and more.*
Uscan extracts 256 bladder slices per scan— 32 times more than conventional scanners— for industry-leading ±10%, ±10 mL accuracy.**
Cutting Down Foley Days and UTIs
NURSING STAFF LOVES USCAN’S EASE OF USE AND ACCURACY
A CASE STUDY
Challenge: Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs)
A Nurse Manager of Surgical ICU at a 1000-bed hospital system in the southeastern U.S. wanted to reduce the number of urinary tract infections associated with Foley catheterization. CAUTIs cost U.S. hospitals millions every year. More importantly, they reduce patient comfort and satisfaction. In some cases, they can even kill the patient.
The hospital system bought its first bladder scanners (a competitor’s product) 20 years ago, but the scanners’ inaccuracy made the nurses distrustful of the measurements.
Solution and Results: Uscan helped reduce their Foley days by 20% and CAUTIs by 47%***
“Uscan is so easy to use—if you can turn on an iPad, you can use the product. There’s a simple demonstration on the display when you turn it on—you can’t go wrong with that. And the product is accurate,” she said. “It’s a great, great piece of equipment.”
She also welcomed Uscan’s expandability to other indications.
“It’s truly an ultrasound machine with the software that enables you to use it as a bladder scanner, and potentially for placing PICC lines using different probes. When my staff and I saw the demonstration, it seemed too good to be true. It’s the best thing since sliced bread,” she said.
“I feel like my staff is actually taking Foley’s out where in the past they would have hesitated. Now they know that they have a bladder scanner that will give them an accurate number,” she said.
“Uscan has impacted nursing satisfaction greatly because it’s easy to use and reliable. Nurses don’t often tell me they love a piece of equipment. Not with Uscan. They actually say, ‘Oh this thing is great!’ One click, fan and scan and you’re done.”
